NYX Color Lip Balms ($3.79) are recently new to Ulta. They are a hydrating lip balm that are tinted with color. 12 different colors are available to choose from. I bought the shades Arigato and Shukran.
The colors look very vibrant on the outside label band and in the tube itself. Once applied, they are much more muted on the lips. They have a light fruity scent to them but zero flavor.
Arigato is a pretty peach color with a bit of sparkle. On the lips though, it’s not very noticeable which is a bummer. I was hoping for a nice bright peach color but it really applies more pale pink than peach.

Shukran is medium pink rose color with no sparkle. On the lips it applies as a sheer light pink. I also was hoping for more color with this one too.

The NYX Color Lip Balms do give your lips a nice shine. They are really soft and apply easily. Unfortunately, I think they are a bit greasy though. The first ingredient listed is mineral oil so I think that’s what produces the soft greasy texture. And combined with the minimal color payoff, I’m not really impressed. I was hoping for much better results with these lip balms.
I could look past the greasiness of these NYC Color Lip Balms if only they would moisturize my lips. Unfortunately theses don’t provide my lips with moisture either. With them being so greasy, they just kinda slide around your lips and then disappear.
I’d have to say pass on these NYX Color Lip Balms. But if you just want a sheer lip balm, you could give these a try simply based on their bargain price. You can often find them on sale at Ulta too for Buy One, Get One half off. Afterall you may not mind the texture as much as I do.
