Lots of new products have come out already for Spring of 2012. Among them, the Maybelline SuperStay 10hr Lip Stain Gloss ($8.99). It comes in 10 different shades and I purchased the color Pink Plush.
I was excited to try this cause let’s face it, who isn’t searching for long lasting lip products that actually work? But don’t get your hopes up, this is not one of those unfortunately.
As soon as I opened it, I noticed the paddle shaped applicator and the strong fruity scent. The color was vibrant and I was hopeful. On application I noticed how well this SuperStay Lip Stain Gloss went on. It’s more of a thin liquid and less of a thick, sticky gloss. It glides on the lips easily and doesn’t dry instantly like some lip stains do.
I really liked the color on my lips and it initially feels good too. It dries fairly fast without actually feeling tight on the lips but still leaves a nice glossy sheen.

So since this Maybelline SuperStay Lip Stain Gloss is supposed to last 10 hours, I decided to put it to the test. I applied it first thing in the morning after my shower and started my day.
Two hours later after 2 cups of coffee, I checked to see how things were lasting. Hmm, not so great. It faded quite a bit and there was a dark line along the middle of my bottom lip. Not very attractive. But I took a progress pic and left it alone. I did not touch it up at all.

Fast forward another 2 hours, so that’s 4 hours post application and after eating lunch, here’s where we stand. All of the glossy sheen is gone along with most of the stain color. I was left with a very slight tint and some darkness in some of the lip lines. So I didn’t even make it half way to the 10 hours of wear. Worst of all it left my lips feeling so dried out and chapped. Very disappointing.

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this Maybelline SuperStay 10hr Stain Gloss. After the initial application I was so hopeful that this would be a go to product. I loved the formula and the color but I cannot look past the terrible way this wears and leaves my lips dried out.

It lasted longer on you than me. I saw it on my lips no longer than 1 hour..not even a hint of color after that(mauve 180). And forget about eating or drinking!
