Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume Mascara Review and Photos

Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume mascara

Another new release for Spring 2012 was the Revlon PhotoReady 3D Volume mascara ($8.99).  I like the sleek square packaging that’s super easy to grip.  The first thing that caught my eye was how short and stubby the wand is.  From handle to tip, it measures only 4 inches.  However, I don’t find it to be a problem and after using it, I rather like the shorter wand.

The 3D Volume mascara brush itself is pretty amazing.  It reminds me a lot of the Benefit They’re Real mascara brush.  The bristles are nice and stiff and go completely around the tip.  It combs through my lashes nicely to give great separation without any clumping.

Revlon claims that this formula “magnifies and multiplies the look of your lashes, easily creating the appearance of bigger, bolder volume.”  I don’t have very sparse lashes to begin with and I really didn’t notice a big increase in any volume after two coats.  I did like the amount of length it did add though.

PhotoReady 3D Volume mascara only comes in 3 colors; black, blackest black and blackened brown.  Unfortunately there is no waterproof version in this formula so it may not wear well for me in the humid summer weather.  But for now, I have had no issues with any smudging.

Final Thoughts:

For the price, it’s a pretty good substitution for Benefit They’re Real.  I still prefer Benefit’s formula though, it gives me much more length and volume than this Revlon 3D Volume does.  But for anyone on a budget, this is a close second.  I think the wand itself is worth a try.

Did you find the square handle difficult to use at all?

The handle is a bit cumbersome but I didn’t have any troubles using it.

Mine must be a reject as both ends of the brush are globbed with mascara and makes a mess of my lashes. Was really hoping for a good lengthening product but not impressed.

That’s a bummer Sheryl. I haven’t had any problems like that with mine.
