Did you have any idea that in Scotland there is a yearly porridge making championship? Um, nope. Me neither, I had no idea. But honestly this is the 18th year for it. No seriously, I’m not joking! Apparently making porridge is pretty serious stuff.
For the first 15 years the Scottish Highland village of Carrbridge hosted the Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championship, no American had even entered the competition, let alone won. But all of that changed in 2009 when Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods decided to take on the challenge. At the 16th annual event, the company competed for the first time and came home with the Golden Spurtle and the title of “World’s Best Oats”!
Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods is giving you a chance to win a free trip for two to Scotland! All you need to do is submit a video entry demonstrating a unique recipe that uses Bob’s Red Mill Steel Cut Oats. You have until July 31, 2011 to submit your entry.
Bob’s Red Mill will select three finalists who will be flown to Portland Oregon to compete in a live cook-off. The winner of the cook-off will be whisked off to Scotland, all expenses paid. Plus, they’ll be $2500 richer! You’ll then represent Bob’s Red Mill in the 18th annual Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championship. Phew, that’s a mouth full!
